My Photography Studio

Bathed in light and a year in the designing, my new photography studio is even dreamier than I imagined. Filled with favourite objects and photographs, brimming with shine and brightness, this space doesn’t feel even remotely like a garage any more. The colour palette is white, charcoal and fuchsia, cooled by a splash of golden yellow, hits of green, and a bit of deep blues and purples to keep it from looking too monochromatic. The white leather chairs are a nod to the iconic “Barcelona” chair, the planters add symmetry, the books (most of them on weddings and photography) and silk drapes allow warmth to reside next to the colder feel of the steel and glass. A playful menagerie of porcelain, glass and metal creatures livens up the antique cameras, while the black “tree” chair and pink metal chair make a more casual, organic statement next to the more substantial leather chairs and menswear-inspired sofa.  The cushions add some drama and can be changed out easily for a black & white colour palette. The glass garage door created a wall of windows, allowing the light to flood in and bounce off all the white no matter the weather. The room is rectangular, but it is now distinctly separated into client-meeting area, near the gray wall and window, and photography studio, near the glass doors.

Can’t wait to see you here:)

peggy - Emma – love the light-diffusion panels in the garage door. How did you do that?

August 21, 2012 - 10:38 pm

Emma - It is a garage door that I ordered with glass, like an industrial one, and had them put a coating so that it wasn’t clear glass.
