As you may have heard me say before, I myself am a twin and it pretty much terrifies me to think of taking care of two babies at once, but Megan and James already looked comfortable after just one week! Megan has twin sisters too, so maybe that’s why she’s taking it all in stride! Congratulations & enjoy!

Chinatown was a first for me, and totally worth visiting. I think we ate about 100 of those little Hong Kong cakes.

The Staten Island ferry was fun, I kept telling the kids to look with their eyes, not the camera, LOL!

Times Square was thrilling for them because of the lights and the live billboard, despite the drizzle.

We stopped at Central Park and ran up the steps of the library somewhere along the way (bottom two photos here).

A trip to NYC could not be complete for kids without FAO Schwarz!

After about 2 hours in a line up, we finally made it to the top. The kids were only impressed for about five minutes, but I still maintain they’ll never forget the view from the Empire State Building. I was really wishing I’d brought my MkIII because it performs so much better under low light but I had fun shooting nonetheless.

When I’m taking photographs I sometimes tune everything out and I only see the expressions and the tenderness and the little details that make up the day… It’s funny sometimes when you know just what made people laugh because sometimes it’s not at all romantic like it seems! Ha ha. But I would rather bring people back to that moment, whatever it was that made them laugh, than to force people to smile stiffly; those moments aren’t ones to remember, and that’s not much of a way to spend one of the most memorable days of your life.

So Crystal and Adam, I hope these photographs (and the ones to come) bring back memories for you, that they make you laugh and maybe even cry. Congratulations to an incredibly sweet couple that Lauren and I had the honour to photograph just a few weeks ago on a snowy evening in Halifax, Nova Scotia (yes, it snowed for a few minutes that night… at least that’s how I remember it!) Thank you for a wonderful day

So I thought after all these things going our way that this shoot would be a breeze, especially since I remembered all too well how great Allison and Ross were to photograph on their wedding day. Well, things were a bit awkward at first (I’m not lying, am I guys? I’m quite sure you were thinking the same thing!!!), but I just pushed through, telling myself, “keep shooting!” As we chatted, I realized that Ross always had nerves the day he goes away, and he was also starting a new job. Once we got that out and behind us, and everyone relaxed a bit in the sunshine and golden leaves, the magic happened once again between Allison and Ross and I was just there to capture it. These two have so much tenderness for each other, Ross was wiping away the tears from the wind on Allison’s face at one point, I just know they are going to make amazing parents.
